Ilni Bike Tour 2018

Today we had breakfast with Walter and went to the meeting point in Königshofen at 10:00 where the bicycles and the luggage were put meticulously into the cars. After a short "Auf Wiedersehen" tune on the hunting horn the Partnerschaftsradfaher drove back home. I'm (together with many others!) looking forward to welcome them back in 2019. Hopefully we'll cycle together from Ilfeld to Niedernhausen (all the way of course!) in 4 days. Tot ziens!

Today we had breakfast with our guest Walter and were punctual at the trainstation for our trip to Limburg an der Lahn. The weather conditions were perfect. We visited the Limburger Dom and had a very interesting guided tour through the crowdy city. Around 18:00 we splitted up at the trainstation of Niedernhausen. The bikers continued for the Rheingauer Weinfest in Wiesbaden and I went home. Crazy how fast time flies when you're having fun, tomorrow the departure of the bikers is planned for 10:30

After a good nights rest. We took together at 7:30 Breakfast and started almost punctual at 8:45 our trip. At 13:00 we arrived at our mid-day destination : Altenstadt. Which we decided would be the end of this year's trip, as it would be impossible to stick to our time schedule to arrive at Engenhahn at 16:30. We still had 94 Km ahead of us at least 5:30 hours of cycling. Still we had a great 67 Km together. And this year is seen as a preparation of next year's trip. Which will probably be in 4 days (instead of 3 days) We were as every year welcomed with cake and coffee at Elfriede and Claudia before we were received by the mayor of Niedernhausen. After a tasty diner with the guest families we went satisfied to sleep.

Yesterday everything went at the end well. After half a day work I took on time the train. Unfortunately due to railwayworks I had to reschedule. :( And so I arrived with a bit more as half an hour delay in Lauterbach (Hessen) Nord. A very small unmanned station. Paul&Marco where already there to pick up my luggage. As the group was taking another way I started in perfect conditions the 10 Km trip. After 45 Min I reached destnation I was even ahead of the group. They arrived more or less at 19:00 after a succesfull 140 Km trip. After a tasty diner we went at 22:00 to bed. A long trip is waiting for us tomorrow. And there is some uncertainty if there will be some rain. Let's go for it.

Today the "bike buddies" arrived sound and safe in Ilfeld. Here some impressions. Have a good night's rest and a good start tomorrow for the 3 days journey! Eager to see you next thursday. Goe trappe mannen!

Hi, Unfortunately the Bike Navigation Devise I've been using over the past years is not working anymore. So after many thoughts I bought me yesterday a Geonaute GPS/Pulse watch as a backup. This Morning I used it to record my jogging. The result was convincing. I'm very happy about that. Now I start packing my stuff.

Hi again, Last Wednesday I finally received the confirmation of my holiday application. Now I can participate to this year's Bike Tour from Ilfeld to Niedernhausen (15.8.-17.8.2018). I'm really relieved and happy! This year the participants take a new challenge by starting in Ilfeld (Harztor) (another partner city of Niedernhausen) and to end in Niedernhausen. Now the time is come to test the race bike I bought in December 2017. Training with it went well. I'm eager to know how the "real thing" will look like. :) Unfortunately I had to compromise with my employer about the amount of days of holiday I was granted to and so I'll join the group (4 cyclists this year) Thursday 16.8.2018 afternoon and cycle the 3rd and last "Etappe"  from Herbstein > Niedernhausen. Still I'm very happy and excited. Training Tour from NDH to Hirschberg and back. 29th of July 2018    Let the ride begin. Life's good! :)
